Delete Your Account & Data

Last Updated: June 24, 2026

1. Overview

GlycoLens is a nutrition and education tool for adults (18+) that helps you understand the glycemic impact of your meals through your GlycoScore and tailored nutritional insights. This page explains how to request deletion of your GlycoLens account, exactly what is deleted, what is retained and for how long, and how deletion affects household and family profiles. You can exercise these rights regardless of jurisdiction (including under GDPR, CCPA, and POPIA).

2. How to Request Deletion

You can delete your account yourself, directly from the app — you do not need to contact us first.

A. In the app (self-serve)

  1. Open the GlycoLens app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  3. Confirm when prompted. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

B. If you can’t sign in or have uninstalled

Email privacy@glycolensapp.com from the email address associated with your account, with the subject “Delete my account.” We verify that the request comes from the account holder and complete the deletion within 30 days, then confirm by email.

3. What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the following from our production systems:

  • Account & identity: your name, email address, and authentication credentials.
  • Your nutrition profile: your GlycoScore inputs, baseline reference values, and self-selected metabolic-interest markers.
  • Food scans & logs: all captured label images, product barcodes, and the GlycoScore and glycemic-impact results generated from them.
  • Notifications & devices: your in-app notification history and registered push-notification device tokens.
  • Household structure: any household or family plan you own, and the managed profiles within it (see Section 4).

4. Household & Family Profiles

GlycoLens lets one account holder manage nutritional insights for a household. Because data can belong either to you or to another adult with their own account, deletion is handled in two ways:

Managed profiles you created

If you added profiles for family members whose meals you log yourself (for example, profiles you created and entered scans for), that data belongs to your account. It is deleted together with your account — including every entry, scan, and GlycoScore result you recorded for those profiles.

Family members with their own account

If a family member has their own GlycoLens account and joined your family plan, their account and their data are not deleted when you delete yours. They lose shared family-plan access and continue as an independent account. Each adult controls and can separately delete their own account at any time using the steps in Section 2.

We do not transfer your data, or a managed profile’s data, to any other person when you delete your account.

5. What Is Retained, and for How Long

After deletion, we keep only the minimum required by law, and nothing that can reconstruct your nutrition data:

  • Billing & transaction records: anonymized purchase and payment records are retained for up to 7 years to meet tax and accounting obligations. These records cannot be used to rebuild your profile, scans, or GlycoScore history.
  • Encrypted backups: account data is removed from live systems immediately, and any residual copies in our encrypted backups are automatically purged within 30 days.

No other personal information is retained after deletion.

6. Timeline at a Glance

  • Immediately: account, profile, scans, and logs removed from live systems.
  • Within 30 days: residual copies purged from encrypted backups.
  • Up to 7 years: anonymized billing records kept for legal compliance only.
